Little Sisters Story
Our 2021 Annual Report is here!
Jul 26, 2022
2021 was once again a year of challenges and achievements. Nepal, like most of the world, endured two massive waves of COVID-19 as the Delta variant swept through the country last spring followed by Omicron this winter. As we look forward to putting much of the suffering and confusion of the pandemic behind us, the resilience and determination the Little Sisters have shown in the face of these past challenges gives us great hope that they are ready to tackle any future bumps in the road along their path to success.
When we started Little Sisters Fund in 1998, we knew it would take many years to see the full transformation of the Little Sisters from shy little girls in danger of child trafficking, child labor and child marriage into educated and empowered young women with the skills and abilities to take control of their lives. We are happy to say that we are now seeing our dream come to fruition in amazing ways.
One of our proudest accomplishments has been the enormous growth in Little Sisters who enroll in tertiary education. In 2010, 63% of LSF’s graduates went on to higher studies. In 2015 that number was 79% and in 2021 an incredible 95% of LSF graduates enrolled in higher education. With the increased level of education Little Sisters are attaining, they are well on their way to successful careers in stable industries like medicine, engineering, technology, accounting, education and business. They are truly and firmly on a path to break the chains of financial insecurity because of their own hard work and the safety and educational opportunities provided by you, through LSF.
None of these successes would be possible without you, our loyal, steadfast donors and supporters. We are immensely grateful for your support over the past 2+ decades which has allowed us to accomplish our mission and change the life trajectory of over 3,000 at-risk girls in Nepal.
