Little Sisters Story

New Year, New Space, New Opportunities

Jan 31, 2025

Little Sisters Fund has officially moved into a new office space, and we couldn’t be happier! After years of working in a cramped, less-than-ideal environment, our Nepal team is now settling into a larger, brighter, and more functional space designed to better serve the Little Sisters and their families.

This new office will help us create a space that can accommodate all the activities and programs that make our work possible. From rooms for letter writing sessions to meeting areas for our team and partners, to more library space to hold new books for Little Sisters to read, this new space is all about growth—both for us and for the girls we support.

The Nepal team is busy making small upgrades to ensure this space works well for everyone involved. They are working hard to create a welcoming, functional environment where we can continue to provide safety and education for thousands of Little Sisters in Nepal. As always we couldn't do any of this without your support! Thank you! What we are able to accomplish as an organization is only possible through the generosity of donors and supporters like you.

Best wishes and Namaste,

Trevor

Celebrating South Asian Culture | Empowering Little Sisters in Nepal

Last November, LSF had the opportunity to partner with Georgetown Rangila to celebrate their 30th anniversary of sharing the vibrant South Asian culture with Georgetown’s campus and the larger Georgetown community. Rangila is the nation’s largest charity dance showcase, featuring hundreds of Georgetown student participants and an all-student leadership team.

We were incredibly grateful to be selected as Georgetown Rangila’s philanthropic partner for Rangila 30: Under the Stars, which took place on November 22nd-24th. This celebration featured stunning performances and an unforgettable showcase of South Asian culture, while also raising awareness and support for Little Sisters Fund.

To learn more about Georgetown Rangila's mission and their events, check out their website: Georgetown Rangila.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with how Rangila 30: Under the Stars turned out! The show was a complete success, with incredible energy and performances from over 450 Georgetown students. From the vibrant dance routines to the heartfelt speeches, it was a night of fun, culture, and giving back.

Through a combination of on- and off-campus fundraising events, sponsorships, and ticket sales, Rangila raised over $75,000 to support Little Sisters Fund. These funds will provide hundreds of years of education for Little Sisters, along with 500 menstrual hygiene kits and support for several community projects in Nepal. It was truly a win-win!

For a full recap of the night, check out the article in The Hoya newspaper: Rangila 30 Recap

And if you missed the event, you can still catch the highlights on YouTube. The main event starts at the 1:11:00 mark, and Trevor and Sapana’s presentations are at 1:21:00. But the true stars of the night were the hundreds of dancers and performers who brought the show to life. You won’t want to miss it!

New Little Sister Profile: Anushka

Anushka’s family comes from a marginalized indigenous community in Nepal. Both of Anushka’s parents grew up poor and migrated to Kathmandu in search of better work opportunities when they were young. They had an arranged marriage and now have two daughters. Anushka's father is a laborer and her mother is a housemaid. They were facing difficulties sending both Anushka and her older sister to school and didn't want to force one of them to drop out of school so they applied for assistance from LSF. Anushka's family is very grateful for the help LSF is providing.

Anushka loves going to school and learning new things. She enjoys playing hide and seek and reading storybooks during her free time. She has been inspired by one of her favorite teachers and hopes to become a teacher too one day so she can help children like her learn and grow.

If you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring Anushka, please reach out to Trevor at trevor@littlesistersfund.org.
