2023 was an outstanding year at LSF and 2024 is off to a great start!

Header_Q12023 was a great year for Little Sisters Fund! Thank you for helping us celebrate our 25th anniversary. Because of your generosity and support, thousands of at-risk girls in Nepal received the hope, opportunity and education they need to grow into independent and empowered young women.

Little Sisters aren’t the only ones growing. LSF is also expanding and growing so we can serve even more Little Sisters in the future. In 2023, we hired 3 new staff members, 2 of which were graduated Little Sisters. And in honor of our 25th anniversary, we are bringing an additional 250 new Little Sisters into the program in 2024. None of this would be possible without your continued compassion and support. We are forever grateful! Thank you!

Namaste,

Trevor

New Little Sister Profile: Yangsang

YangsangNeither of Yangsang’s parents are educated past the 8th grade, but they both have a desire to give their two daughters a quality education. They left their rural village and moved to Kathmandu in search of better jobs and better schools. Yangsang’s father found work as a driver and her mother works as a tailor. However, their income is not sufficient to pay for their basic needs in addition to school fees for both of their girls. So, LSF stepped in to help by supporting Yangang’s education.

Yangsang is a sweet 2nd grader who loves to go to school because she gets to play with her friend, Nimi. She enjoys Science class because she gets to do project work in the classroom. Yangsang likes to participate in quiz, dance and handwriting competitions. She loves her mother and helps her with simple household chores such as cleaning vegetables. Yangsang wants to be a doctor when she grows up because she wants to help sick people and cure their diseases.

A Trek to Remember

YalaIn November, Trevor accompanied a group of 12 sponsors and donors on an 8-day trek up Yala Peak in the Langtang region of Nepal. This fundraising trek raised over $100,000 for female education in Nepal. That is over 445 years of education which will provide safety and opportunity for girls who might otherwise fall victim to child trafficking, child labor or child marriage. Here are a few takeaways from a couple of the trek participants.

“As you would expect, the Himalayas were breathtaking (beautiful, and they literally take your breath away!). The hike was an adventurer’s dream come true – from spending time with my fellow hikers, to the Nepalis who opened their hearts and homes to us, it was the experience of a lifetime,” said Lesley. “The only thing that could upstage the mountains was the chance to meet my own Little Sister, Sumedha, in person. What a powerful and wonderful opportunity for us sponsors!”

“In November 2023, my wife and I spent some of the best days of our lives in Nepal. We knew the trekking experience would be phenomenal and we have heard from others how magnificent of a country Nepal is; and it was certainly that,” described Tanju. “But, we had no way of knowing the real fun would be the day we spent with LSF staff and Little Sisters. The sparkle in the eyes of the girls of all ages and the determination of the mentors and LSF staff to make this program successful was refreshing and encouraging. Thank you so much for a great day in the office and an incredible week in the mountains!”

Are you interested in visiting Nepal to meet Little Sisters and LSF’s Nepal Team? Trevor is planning a trip for Fall 2024. In addition to meeting Little Sisters, you will have the chance to take in many of the historical and cultural sights of Kathmandu. If you would like to join this unforgettable trip, contact Trevor at [email protected].
