Little Sisters are breaking barriers!

Little Sisters are breaking barriers!

FinalFrontCoverLittle Sisters are amazing! The past 25 years – yes, you heard that right, Little Sisters Fund is celebrating our 25th Anniversary! The past 25 years have been absolutely chockfull of wonderful surprises and amazing outcomes Usha and I could never have dreamed of 25 years ago. To-date the lives of over 3,900 girls in Nepal have been dramatically improved through education, mentoring and support. None of this would have been possible without the kindness and generosity of YOU, our sponsors and donors.

There is not nearly enough room here to encompass your amazing impact, but here are a few highlights:

  • 98% of Little Sisters graduate from high school, compared to 25% of their peers nationally.
  • Little Sisters have completed hundreds of community projects including science labs, water projects, playgrounds, libraries, computer labs and toilets that will positively impact their schools and communities for years to come.
  • 32 Little Sisters are enrolled in master’s degree programs, 2 have completed PhDs and 4 more are currently pursuing PhD programs.
  • Little Sisters Fund has recently hired its first Little Sister alum and 6 Little Sister graduates currently sit on our advisory board. These are important first steps in eventually realizing our goal of having LSF led by Little Sisters for Little Sisters.

It is truly remarkable what education and opportunity can achieve. I cannot thank you enough for your caring and compassionate generosity through the years!

Namaste,

Trevor

Technical Trade School Builds a Firm Foundation

LSF’s Technical Trade School program offers financial assistance to Little Sisters pursuing 3-year higher education technical trade associates degrees in STEM fields. Through these degrees, girls will gain independence, job security and income generation, thus overcoming gender barriers and multi-generational poverty in Nepal. Currently, 60 Little Sisters are pursuing technical trade degrees in civil engineering, nursing, computer science, lab technology, agriculture, pharmacy, ophthalmology and more.

Salina_currentSalina is just one of our many successful technical trade school graduates. Salina’s mother died when she was 10 years old. Her father is a farmer. After his wife’s death, Salina’s father struggled to take care of and provide an education for Salina and her three siblings. In 2006, when Salina was in 3rd grade, LSF began supporing her education. She completed a technical degree in radiography in 2020. Salina now works at the National Cardiac Center in Kathmandu.

“I always think about LSF and how it not only changed my life, it also helped me pave a path to a better future,” said Salina. “They provided financial support for my education and motivated me to be an independent and successful person. LSF has been invaluable in making me who I am today.”

Yala Peak Trek Supports 500 Years of Education

YalaPeak

This November, Trevor is leading a group of LSF supporters on a fundraising trek up Yala Peak in the beautiful Langtang region of Nepal. The goal for the benefit trek is to raise enough financial support to cover 500 years of schooling for Little Sisters (tuition, books, supplies, uniforms, mentoring and preventative and emergency health care). If you are interested in donating to this effort on behalf of one of the trekkers, click here.
