Little Sisters are smiling, laughing and thriving together!

Little Sisters are smiling, laughing and thriving together!

Header_LWCOVID cases in Nepal have dropped significantly over the past month which has allowed all of LSF’s partner schools to re-open for in-person learning. Yay! Little Sisters and their classmates are busy wrapping up the 2021-22 school year and preparing for year-end exams which will take place later this month. We are incredibly grateful to our Coordinating Mentors and Nepal staff who have helped the Little Sisters through all of the turmoil of the past two years. As schools re-open, our Nepal staff have also been able to resume school visits and meet with Little Sisters as a group for counseling and awareness raising, letter writing, health education, etc. It has been great to see them smiling, laughing and thriving together again! We cannot thank you, our donors, enough for the steadfast support you have provided to LSF and the Little Sisters. We are forever grateful!

Little Sisters Contributing to their Community

Little Sisters and their Coordinating Mentors have recently completed several community projects. These projects are a great way for Little Sisters to learn leadership skills as they engage with their community to create positive change and promote learning and growing in community.

New Little Sister Profile: Rabina

RabinaEven though Rabina’s parents are uneducated, they want better for Rabina and her brother. After an arranged marriage in their rural village, they moved the family to Kathmandu in search of a better life. Rabina’s parents have struggled finding jobs that could provide the basic needs for their family. Her father is currently working in Malaysia, but is unable to send money back home and her mother is working as a housemaid. The principal of Rabina’s school referred her to LSF so Rabina would not be forced to drop out of school.

Rabina is a very active girl who likes to play badminton and basketball. She likes going to school where she is surrounded by good teachers and good friends. Rabina also likes to read books and draw pictures in her free time. She helps her mother with household chores such as washing dishes, cleaning and cooking. In the future, she wants to be a Vet so she can help all the animals around her.

If you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring Rabina, please reach out to Trevor at [email protected]

Once a Little Sister, Always a Little Sister

What is life like after a Little Sister graduates? Did you know nearly 95% of Little Sister graduates enroll in higher education? For this reason, LSF’s support doesn’t stop when they complete high school. In fact, our Graduation Farewell ceremony is really more of a “Congrats and See You Later” ceremony. LSF’s Alumni Director, Neeti, uses this time to inform Little Sister graduates about all of the ongoing support LSF offers its graduates. From merit-based scholarships to financial support for technical trade programs to small loans for higher education, LSF’s alumni support programs are there for each and every Little Sister as she navigates her path from high school graduate to becoming a successful, educated and empowered woman who is ready and able to control her destiny and make choices that will benefit her and her family for generations to come.
