Little Sisters are succeeding because of you! Thank you!

DikshyaNepaliArt

In Nepal, only about 25 percent of women enroll in higher education and they are especially underrepresented in many science, medical and technical education programs. But Little Sisters are beating these odds with the help of you, our sponsors. When given the opportunity go to school and get a quality education, Little Sisters are succeeding at remarkable rates and reaching amazing heights, sometimes quite literally. Little Sisters are becoming pilots, architects, IT professionals, lab technicians, dentists, doctors, engineers and more. Many of these accomplishments were unheard of just 5-10 years ago and none of it would be possible without your generosity. As we enter a season of reflection and thankfulness we wanted to take a moment to say thank you for your tremendous support over the years. You are the reason LSF can have such a positive impact on the lives of the Little Sisters. We are deeply grateful!

Namaste!

The Difference You Make

We often tell our funders and supporters that they are making a lasting a meaningful difference in the lives of the Little Sisters. Have you ever wondered exactly what that means? Here are just a couple examples of how Little Sisters’ lives were changed dramatically because of the opportunity they received when they became Little Sisters as young girls.

ArpanaArpana started receiving support from LSF in 2001 when she was in 5th grade. She graduated in 2008 and went on to receive her bachelors degree in Public Health from HOPE International College-Kathmandu in 2011. She completed her masters degree in Child Development from Tribhuvan University in 2017. Arpana recently completed her Ph.D in Behavioral Science from Kochi University of Technology in Japan.

Arpana in her own words:

“I’m always thinking about Little Sisters Fund and how it’s changed my life and helped me shape my future. I would like to thank the LSF family for their kind support and contributions which have been invaluable in making me who I am today. Thank you very much for always being there for me. I am blessed to be a part of LSF.”

PujaKhanalPuja became a Little Sister in 2011 when she was in 4th grade. Her parents both felt very strongly about educating their two daughters but this was very difficult to do on Puja’s father’s primary teacher salary. LSF stepped in to help and now Puja is not only a high school graduate but she is also received a full scholarship to study her bachelors of medicine and surgery. Thanks to donors like you, Puja’s dream of becoming a doctor is alive and well!

Puja in her own words:

“Little Sisters Fund not only provides financial support for education but it also teaches us and motivates us to be independent and successful. LSF emphasizes the empowerment of girls like me. My coordinating mentor always pushed me to do something valuable with my life.  I’m very grateful to the entire LSF family for providing me with this help and support.”

New Little Sister Profile: Diti

AayushmaDiti’s family has suffered mightily because of COVID-19. Her father has been away for the past several years working in Dubai. When he contracted COVID earlier this year, his company fired him. Without savings to fall back on he has had to rely on friends in Dubai to provide food and shelter for him. Because of his lack of funds and pandemic lockdowns he has been unable to return to his family in Nepal. Diti’s mother also lost her job as a junior teacher when the Nepali government shut down schools as part of its COVID-19 mitigation measures. With little to no income, the family was struggling to survive and sending Diti school was not possible. LSF stepped into this gap to help Diti stay in school where she is an excellent student who loves to draw, dance and help her friends as they study and learn together.

If you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring Diti and becoming an important role model and pen pal in her life, please reach out to Trevor at [email protected]
